Dow futures head into Monday with bulls having regained some control late last week and broken out of several downtrend structures. Buyers have the stronger immediate trend, but the durability of the breakout is still in question. The progress matters; whether price can hold that recovered ground will determine how much weight it carries.

The strongest bullish case is price holding or reclaiming 51,930. Clearing 52,135 would give buyers fuller control and open the possibility of a larger squeeze toward 52,900. Beneath that, 51,665–51,500 is the zone bulls need to defend to preserve the case for sustained upside. Losing that area would weaken the progress made late last week and give sellers more influence.

Sellers need price to remain beneath 51,500 to strengthen their position. Below it, 51,300–51,275 is a key defense for bulls: that area helped launch the late-week recovery, with 51,200 the final allowance beneath it. The 200-day moving average has also been around 51,200 over the past couple of sessions, and bears have been trapped beneath that average three times this month. A sustained loss of this lower support area would open the way to new lows.

I see real progress from the bulls, but a breakout still needs to hold. Monday is a U.S. bank holiday, although the NYSE remains open. With CPI due Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET, the holiday backdrop and wait for the release could bring thinner liquidity and muted price action. The central question remains whether the late-week gains survive the next challenge: bulls need to preserve the recovered structure, while bears need a break of support that holds.
